The Talbert and Leota Abrams Planetarium serves as an astronomy and space science education resource center for central Michigan. It houses a Digistar 6 computer graphics planetarium projector and a 140-seat Sky Theater. A variety of planetarium shows are offered to the public.

Beaumont Tower Carillon  |  517-353-5340

Housed in Beaumont Tower, the MSU carillon contains 49 bells and can play the full range of literature composed for the instrument. One of approximately 180 working carillons in North America, it is activated by a computer to sound Westminster Chimes every quarter hour. Faculty and students perform recitals that are free and open to the public. The tower is located next to the MSU Museum on West Circle Drive.

A museum committed to exploring global contemporary culture and ideas through art. Designed by the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid, the museum features a striking façade of pleated stainless steel and glass.

Our 14 acres of diverse gardens are a superb retreat and resource for gardeners, plant lovers, and children of all ages. The Michigan 4H Children’s Garden has more than 60 themed displays.

The picturesque Michigan State University Alumni Chapel is an interdenominational place of worship that serves as a spiritual center for all faiths. Dedicated in 1952, the chapel contains stones from famous European cathedrals some of which are more than 500 years old. In 2020, a new world-class organ was installed to enhance this stunning historical building.

The MSU Dairy Store offers delicious ice creams and cheeses from its Anthony Hall location. They also serve hot soup and mac and cheese selections.

Founded in 1857, the MSU Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Midwest. It offers anthropological, biological, folklife, geological, and historical exhibits and programs. In 2001, the MSU Museum because the first museum in the state to receive Smithsonian affiliate status from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

NSCL Laboratory

The National Science Foundation’s Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, NSCL, is a national user facility with the mission to allow scientists from all over the world to make scientific discoveries about the inner workings of atoms and their role in the universe. In partnership with the DOE and the National Science Foundation construction of the NSCL began in 2014 with full completion scheduled for 2022

The pavilion hosts approximately 100 events each year. It is the home of the Spartan Stampede Rodeo, the Michigan Livestock Exhibition, the RV Show, the Lansing Home and Garden Show, AutumnFest, and numerous 4-H and FFA events.

The Spartan Statue

The Spartan Statue also known as Sparty, is one of the most iconic images on the campus of MSU. Located at the intersection of Kalamazoo, Chestnut, and Red Cedar roads this popular meeting place is also a frequent backdrop for photos. Created by Michigan native Leonard Jungwirth and dedicated in 1945, the original Sparty was the largest free-standing ceramic sculpture in the world at the time. After years of enduring all of Michigan’s seasons, a bronze replica was dedicated in 2005 and the original terra cotta statue was moved to its new home inside the Spartan Stadium tower atrium.

Two theaters, including the 2,500-seat Cobb Great Hall and the 600-seat Pasant Theatre, host a variety of cultural events.          

W.J. Beal Botanical Garden  |  517-355-9582,

This 5-acre display garden was established in 1873 by Professor William James Beal as an outdoor laboratory for the study and appreciation of plants. It is the oldest continuously operated university botanical garden of its kind in the United States.
